After a lovely sleep - in in this beautiful quiet and calm
mooring, I walked outside to see the whole rigging covered in corellas. Luckily, they didn’t eat my coaxial cables and
wind instrument.
We took a taxi the three kilometres into town to do our washing,
then we did some shopping and had some lunch. Putu bought a huge almost
two-meter-long French bread stick and I felt so stupid
having to carry it around everywhere.
“Easy Life” looks
like she has had a hard life
Exmouth has changed so much since I was last here in the
nineties. After cyclone Vance destroyed a lot of the houses and infrastructure,
so much has been rebuilt and there are so many new resorts and camping grounds,
I hardly recognised the place.
This little corella
joined us for lunch
After lunch, we walked to the new visitor’s centre, a
massive complex showcasing the history of Exmouth. (And here I am carrying
around this huge French bread stick getting weird looks from every one)
We walked the three kilometres back to the boat and before
dinner I had a long chat with Dave (MV Fonster) on the radio who was stuck in Jurien
Bay due to the bad weather.
We were meant to stay
in the jetty in the foreground but we didn’t fit.
During the evening, Putu decided she wanted to hire a car
and see the surrounding area of Exmouth, so we booked a car for early morning.
So quiet and peaceful
in the canals
Track Sirocco’s
progress
