It rained all night and I had to get up and close all the
hatches. In the morning it was overcast and drizzling and generally very
miserable weather.
After breakfast we decided to do our laundry at the yacht
club, but after turning on the washing machine and hiding out of the constant
rain it occurred to us there was no clothes dryer at the facility and no one owns
a closes dryer in the Pilbara. Bugger !!
The staff at the yacht club suggested we try a cleaning
company in town and we borrowed the club loan car and headed off into Karratha.
The town was awash with so much rain and it slowly got heavier as the day went
on.
We eventually found the cleaning company but they didn’t
deal with the public, so we decided to go to the shopping centre and have some
lunch while we decide what to do.
After I went to the hardware store and bought some
stainless-steel fittings to repair the dingy davits and some batteries.
We went to one of the caravan parks and they had a dryer and
allowed us to use it, so we left Sarah to take care of the cloths drying while
Putu and I headed out to the airport to pick up a hire car.
I went back to the yacht club to return the loan car before
five o’clock while Putu went back to pick up Sarah.
Back at the yacht club the rain was pouring and the tide had
gone out four metres making for an interesting ride out to Sirocco. The girls
came back after dark and I had to go back in to pick them up.
We feasted on mud crabs and after some freshly cooked
mackerel fillets.
Track Sirocco’s
progress
